Application and Hiring Process
Step 1: Submit an online application. We accept applications on a rolling basis, and we encourage you to submit your application as early as possible. We do not accept applications via email or direct mail.
Step 2: Phone Interview. Selected applicants will participate in a phone interview with the Manager of Recruitment. We will focus on your previous experience and the content of your application. During this round, the applicant will be asked to rank order the school(s) for which they would like to be considered.
Step 3: Lesson Demo. Applicants applying for a classroom teacher role will be invited to submit a 35-40 minute demo lesson (it can be mailed on a disc, shared on Dropbox, or uploaded to YouTube). We will give more information about the demo lesson requirements if you are invited to this phase of the application process.
Step 4: Administrative Interview. Applicants who are invited to this phase of the application process will participate in a phone interview with a school leadership team. The conversation will include a debrief of your lesson demo as well as your past teaching experiences. Applicants may be invited to interview at multiple schools if selected by more than one school leadership team.
Step 5: In-Person Interview. Applicants will be invited to an in-person interview at one or more schools. During your visit you’ll observe classroom teaching, meet with a panel of teachers, and the school-based principal.
Step 6: Reference Check. References submitted during the online application round, will be contacted by someone from Holyoke Public Schools.
