Job Summary

•The Assistive Technology Specialist will work with students, families, and educators to assess and address the assistive technology needs of students within the Holyoke Public Schools.
• This role requires a strong understanding of assistive technology devices, software, and accessibility features, as well as a commitment to equity and anti-racism

 

Qualifications
• Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a related field (i.e. special education or assistive technology)
• Three years related experience and/or combination of experience and education
• Knowledge of various types of assistive technology devices, software, and accessibility features across different platforms
• Knowledge of disability laws and regulations related to assistive technology
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

 

Responsibilities
 
 
• Conduct assessments to determine the need for assistive technology solutions
• Recommend and implement assistive technology devices, software, or modifications
• Provide training and ongoing support to students, families, and stakeholders
• Stay up-to-date with the latest assistive technology advancements and evaluate new products or solutions
• Collaborate with educators, related service providers, families, and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive approach to assistive technology implementation and support
• Maintain accurate records and generate reports as required
